A Birthday/Anniversary To Remember

Today, we had two special occasions to celebrate, as we do every 15 April. And no, tax day is not one of them. Today is our "dating" anniversary, although we didn't actually go on an actual date for a long time. It's the day we consider most important in our lives but is the kind of anniversary that only we can, and should, recognize annually. It is also Patty's birthday - her 31st.

The birthday girl got breakfast in bed: Starbucks mocha and pumpkin scone, her favorite breakfast. Then she went to the gym, because that is part of her perfect day. We did cake and presents after that, and had dinner at Panahar, a Bangladeshi place.

After dinner, it was time for Matt's big surprise, as in a surprise for Matt. We went to PDK, also known as Peachtree-Dekalb Airport. There were a pilot named Scott and a shiny red Robinson 44 helicopter waiting for us. They took us on a tour of Buckhead and Dunwoody, as there was a Braves game underway and airspace downtown was restricted. We flew quite low over our old apartment in Midtown, as well as Piedmont Park, Christ the King (our old church), the condo building occupied (part-time) by both Elton John and Janet Jackson and a host of other really neat stuff. We watched the sunset from the air with a bottle of champagne compliments of Air Atlanta Helicopters.

Here are some photos from our big day:

That's a lot of candles!

Gabriel kept himself entertained at the restaurant.

About to take off

Roger, Roger.

Don't call me Shirley.

Matt and our fearless pilot

What a great ride that was.

Happy Anniversary!
