We just got back from Japan Fest, and although I felt the need to chastise someone for jumping the line (I may possibly have told him at one point that his behavior was
so American), and although G was a total nightmare, we thought it was a pretty cool festival. The highlight was seeing a show from
Sinatra and then meeting them afterwards.
We saw a great kyudo (archery) demonstration as well as a taido demonstration.
Taido is an Okinawan version of karate, and it's what Matt's dad studied when we was a kid in Okinawa. His parents (G's great-grandparents) wanted him to learn "real" martial arts, rather than those they taught on-base, so he quickly learned to navigate the bus system and find his way around.
