J-Pop Rules

From japan fest 2008
We just got back from Japan Fest, and although I felt the need to chastise someone for jumping the line (I may possibly have told him at one point that his behavior was so American), and although G was a total nightmare, we thought it was a pretty cool festival. The highlight was seeing a show from Sinatra and then meeting them afterwards.

We saw a great kyudo (archery) demonstration as well as a taido demonstration.

Taido is an Okinawan version of karate, and it's what Matt's dad studied when we was a kid in Okinawa. His parents (G's great-grandparents) wanted him to learn "real" martial arts, rather than those they taught on-base, so he quickly learned to navigate the bus system and find his way around.

Five Years

From Our Fifth Anniversary

We celebrated our fifth anniversary today at Elevation Chop House. It's a restaurant right next to the runway at McCollum Field in Kennesaw. The food was amazing, the service was really great, and the view was spectacular. Besides the runway, we could see Kennesaw Mountain in the distance, and because we were on a runway, there were no buildings obstructing our view of the sky at dusk.

Here are a couple more photos from dinner. Look at the way our drinks are smoking - they are martinis made with liquid nitrogen. We had to poke a hole in the top to get the liquid out! Later, the "nitrogen guy" made us a margarita version on the house. It made for a great dessert.

Blogging Upstairs

We've been holding off the blog for a bit until we could fix our laptop, but since that isn't going to happen in the near future, we've set up shop on our desktop. Fortunately, Picasa makes downloading photos and blogging super easy. Now that we know that, we should be back in business.

Here are a few photos from the past couple of weeks.

Jewelry

I'm working on making some jewelry for our craft fair, so I played around with crocheting wire last night.

In other news, Laura's here and we're having a great time. We went to Piedmont Park and Flying Biscuit the other day, and she's going back today although we're in a staying-in kind of mood. I have a fever and need to rest a little today.

G goes back to school tomorrow and is really excited. I'm excited that I don't have to make snacks this week!

Gustav's tail is over our house right now, so it's cloudy today. Hannah will be next and looks like it might come closer.
