Hike Update #9

Love the mileage on the MINI.  Of course, you can see what our average speed is.  It was higher, but I made Leadfoot slow down from 90 mph.  Our miles to empty says 441 miles.  We could get to Ohio on that!

Hike Update #8

Back in Georgia.
Number of Mississippi license plates:  6.
Grossest bathrooms ever:  Chinnabee Lake.
Number of P's toes bitten by fish:  1.
Number of cigarette butts stepped on before we passed the swimmin' hole on the trail:  countless.
Value of the fresh air and privacy 2 miles into the hike:  priceless.

Hike Update #7

Talladega National Forest has the coolest signs!

Hike Update #6

There is a swimming hole along the Chinnabee Silent Trail.  SO refreshing after a long hike!

Hike Update #5

Highest point in Alabama.  Climbing to top of tower to get even higher.  Can't wait to see the view!

Hike Update #4

Scenic overlook, Talladega Scenic Drive

Hike Update #3

Made it to Alabama...  and the Central Time Zone.

Hike Update #2

In the car:  Matty, Patt, and Chip
On the radio:  A Prairie Home Companion
Scenery:  Trees
Weather:  Clear and sunny
Number of Mississippi license plates so far:  3

Roadside Hope

This is in downtown Lithia Springs, Georgia, across from an old barber shop and next to the train tracks.  We will try to keep updated as we travel to our hiking destination today, so watch for more photos.

Light Of Our Life

Hee hee.  Another pun.

A Square Meal

We're in Marietta Square, and we're eating a meal.  Get it?!  Square meal?!  Oh, we feel so clever.  While you ponder our tremendous wit, please to enjoy this photo of our sidewalk seats.

At The Car Wash

Take Me Out To The Ballgame - Birthday Edition

Here is some video from the big party last Sunday. First of all, here is the Chipster standing in the field at the Rome Braves game, while the entire stadium sings Happy Birthday to him:

Next up, we have video shot and produced by our friend Tony, who is a professional (he is a video editor at CNN). It gives you a great summary of the party - the setting, the people, and the things we did. You can watch it in HD if you'd like.

Happy Birthday To Our Little Chipster!

There are so many videos and things we'd like to post, but after such a fun and exhausting weekend, here are a couple of links where you can see some snapshots from the past week. We hope everyone will have a wonderful week!

G's birthday party today

There is one highlight we would really like to share. In the middle of the fourth during the Rome Braves game today, they brought him onto the field so that everybody in the stadium could sing Happy Birthday to him. It was such a special moment, and we think he is the most special boy on Earth.

We Did It!

We had a wonderful Independence Day weekend, but the highlight, as always, was the Peachtree Road Race. The event was very well-run, the crowds were supportive and motivating, and we actually did pretty well. We didn't walk a single bit, which was our goal. You can see our entire photo album of the day here, and here are some highlights:

It's really nice to be out here on a pleasant night with so many people out on Marietta Square.  Hold on, fire juggler...
