Don't Scowl, Wear A Cowl!

Some pics from today. I finished a knit cowl of my own design, and Chip is just too cute sometimes to leave out of the blog. Enjoy!

SFSY

We put up our Halloween decorations yesterday and today, and our mantle shows why this is our favorite time of year. We think these things are so funny!

In other news, G and I decided to hide under his bed when M got home from work. It's just something we do sometimes for fun, only today he couldn't find us and got a little scared. When we went to Publix for batteries (for all of the Halloween stuff), the folks at the bakery were happy to decorate it for us. SFSY stands for "sorry for scaring you."

Taking Our Buddy To The Big City

Since Buddy was visiting our home this weekend, we let G take him to the aquarium with us on Friday. We had a really great time and learned about some new creatures, like cuttle fish and Japanese spider crabs. Some photos:

Happy Christening Anniversary, Chip!

G's class makes note of his baptism date, or at least they're supposed to, so we made a special treat to take in today. It was also a big day for the Chipster because Buddy, the class mascot, chose to come home with us for the weekend! G's been eager to be chosen each week, so this is a very big deal. Here are some photos we took today.

J-Pop Rules

From japan fest 2008
We just got back from Japan Fest, and although I felt the need to chastise someone for jumping the line (I may possibly have told him at one point that his behavior was so American), and although G was a total nightmare, we thought it was a pretty cool festival. The highlight was seeing a show from Sinatra and then meeting them afterwards.

We saw a great kyudo (archery) demonstration as well as a taido demonstration.

Taido is an Okinawan version of karate, and it's what Matt's dad studied when we was a kid in Okinawa. His parents (G's great-grandparents) wanted him to learn "real" martial arts, rather than those they taught on-base, so he quickly learned to navigate the bus system and find his way around.
